What is Quant (QNT) and how does it work?

Quant (QNT) is a crypto project launched in 2018 to solve the interoperability issue, which is aimed to tackle by creating the first blockchain operating system. One of the founders, Gilbert Verdian, had the idea for the project while working in the healthcare industry. He realized the importance of interoperability to ensure that patients registered on different platforms are covered. He then leveraged these ideas to create Quant.

Quant connects networks and blockchains on a global scale without reducing the efficiency and interoperability of the network. It built the system using distributed ledger technology and Overledger Network as a backbone for connecting the different blockchains.

Overledger was designed to act as a gateway for connecting and accessing different networks, enabling app creations on an ecosystem similar to Ethereum but without being limited to one blockchain. Instead of connecting the blockchain, Quant creates different layers for the apps to connect.

The different layers are used for different functionalities, such as transactions, messaging, filtering, and ordering. Quant also has an application to share and reference messages related to other applications.

Overledger Network has also been used for other functionalities, allowing developers to build decentralized multi-chain applications (MApps). To build a MApp on the network, developers must hold a set amount of Quant tokens (QNT) as collateral.

Quant also has an App Store that enables users to read and monitor transactions across multiple ledgers. By using Overledger, coders can write smart contracts across different blockchains that generally wouldn't be supported, such as Bitcoin. This can allow the users to release multi-chain applications (MApps).

QNT is available for trading on dApp.
